The easiest way to get SyllableReader. Works on Chrome versions 90 and above — if you haven't updated Chrome in the last two years, update first.
Click the button below. It will open the Chrome Web Store in a new tab. You'll see the SyllableReader listing with a blue Add to Chrome button on the right.
Open Chrome Web Store →A confirmation popup appears listing the permissions the extension needs. These are required to read text on webpages and show the toolbar. Click Add extension.
Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser toolbar (top-right). Find SyllableReader in the list and click the pin icon next to it. This keeps it visible so you can access it quickly.
Open any article, blog post, or website. The SyllableReader toolbar appears automatically at the bottom of the page.
Click the green All button in the toolbar. The page begins reading aloud with each word highlighted. You're done.

Edge uses the same extension format as Chrome, so installation is very similar. SyllableReader works on Edge versions 90 and above.

Open Edge Add-ons →A popup asks if you want to add the extension. Click Add extension.
Click the puzzle-piece icon in the Edge toolbar. Find SyllableReader and click the eye icon to keep it visible.
Navigate to any article or blog. The SyllableReader toolbar appears at the bottom of the page automatically.

Firefox uses a slightly different extension format but the install process is the same. SyllableReader works on Firefox 109 and above.
Click the button below. It opens the Firefox Add-ons (AMO) site in a new tab.
Open Firefox Add-ons →A popup shows what permissions the extension needs. Click Add.
Firefox asks whether to allow the extension in private browsing. Tick the box if you want SyllableReader to work in private windows too.
Open any article or blog post. The SyllableReader toolbar appears at the bottom automatically.
Click the green All button. Reading starts immediately.
