Please read these Terms carefully before installing or using SyllableReader. By installing or using the extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. About SyllableReader
SyllableReader is a browser extension produced and operated by Syllable Reader, a business based in the United Kingdom. Contact: support@syllablereader.com
2. Licence to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use SyllableReader for your own personal or educational purposes, subject to these Terms.
You may not: reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the extension · distribute, resell, or sublicense the extension or any licence key · use the extension to build a competing product · attempt to circumvent licence verification or tier gating · share your licence key with others or activate it on more than 2 devices.
3. Tiers and features
SyllableReader is available in three tiers:
- Lite — free to install and use without restriction
- Pro — requires an active Pro subscription (monthly or annual), purchased from syllablereader.com
- Elite — requires an active Elite subscription (monthly or annual), purchased from syllablereader.com
Features available on each tier are as described on our Pricing page at the time of purchase. Access to Pro or Elite features is tied to your subscription remaining active. If you cancel, your features remain available until the end of your current paid period, after which the extension reverts to Lite. We reserve the right to add features to any tier. We will not remove features from a tier you are subscribed to during your billing period without offering an equivalent.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Pro and Elite are available on monthly or annual subscription plans. Both plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through your Stripe billing portal or by contacting support@syllablereader.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you are not charged again after cancellation. We do not store your payment card details. All billing is handled securely by Stripe.
5. Licence keys
Licence keys are personal (issued to one purchaser for use on up to 2 devices), non-transferable (you may not sell or give your key to another person), and linked to an active subscription (the key is valid while your subscription is active; if your subscription ends, the key reverts to Lite). Keys are delivered by email immediately after payment. If you do not receive your key within 30 minutes, check your spam folder and then contact support@syllablereader.com.
6. Payments and refunds
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details. Refund policy: we offer a full refund within 14 days of your first payment if the extension does not work as described on your device. To request a refund, contact support@syllablereader.com with your order reference. Refunds will not be issued for: change of mind after 14 days · issues caused by your device configuration or third-party software · subsequent billing periods once you have been using the extension.
7. Privacy
Use of SyllableReader is subject to our Privacy Policy at syllablereader.com/privacy-policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use SyllableReader to: access content in violation of that content’s copyright · circumvent paywalls on third-party websites · automate bulk content extraction · interfere with the operation of any website.
9. Availability and updates
Updates are delivered through the browser store and applied automatically. We reserve the right to discontinue SyllableReader with reasonable notice. In that event, paid subscribers will be offered a pro-rata refund for any unused subscription period.
10. Disclaimers
SyllableReader is provided “as is”. We make no warranty that it will work on every website, be free from errors or interruption, or meet your specific requirements. SyllableReader is an assistive tool and is not a medical device, therapeutic programme, or educational qualification.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of business arising from use of the extension. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by UK law.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
