🔜 Apple Devices & Safari (Coming Soon)

Current Status (March 2026)

SyllableReader does not currently work on Safari or any iPad/iPhone.

Future Plans – Safari Version Coming Q3-Q4 2026

We are developing a Safari version that will work on:

  • Safari on macOS (Big Sur 11.0+) – All features
  • Safari on iPad (iPadOS 15+) – All features
  • Safari on iPhone (iOS 15+) – All features
  • Elite Shadowing Mode may have limitations on iOS

Why doesn’t it work now?

Safari uses a different extension format (Safari Web Extensions) than Chrome. Converting requires:

  • 40-60 hours of development time
  • Apple Developer account ($99/year)
  • App Store review process (2-4 weeks)
  • Touch interface optimization for iOS

Timeline

Safari support is targeted for Q3-Q4 2026 (approximately 6-9 months after Chrome launch). This timeline allows us to:

  1. Gather feedback from Chrome users
  2. Ensure stability before porting
  3. Optimize for iOS touch interfaces
  4. Complete App Store requirements

A: Yes on Android (via Kiwi Browser). No on iPhone.

Q: I have an iPad. Can I use SyllableReader?

A: Not yet, but soon! We’re developing a Safari version targeted for Q3-Q4 2026 that will work on all iPads (iPadOS 15+). For now, use SyllableReader on a Mac/PC with Chrome/Edge, or get a Chromebook (£200+) for portable use. Email safari@syllablereader.com to get notified when iPad support launches.

Q: What’s the cheapest device that will work?

A: Any touchscreen Chromebook starting around £200-250. Examples: Acer Spin 311 (£279), Lenovo Flex 3 (£249).

Q: Does Elite Shadowing Mode work on all devices?

A: Shadowing Mode works on all desktop/laptop computers and Windows tablets. It does NOT work on Android (even with Kiwi Browser) or Chromebooks.

Q: Can I use voice commands to control SyllableReader?

A: Yes on Windows 11 (Voice Access) and Chrome OS (Voice typing). You can say things like “click pause” or “click stop”. This works on Surface tablets and Chromebooks.
